SchoolNow, specialists in content management systems and websites for schools, announces the formation of the Campus Suite Academy Webinar Series. Part of the professional development division , the Academy Webinar Series kicks off with its first program, October 2 at 2pm EST – the second follows October 9 at 2pm EST – on the pressing topic of social media in schools.

Both initial programs address planning and creating a social media foundation for schools. Titled How to Build a Social Media Program, the October 2 webinar is for public schools, and the October 9 program is for private schools. Webinar participants can expect to learn how to plan, create and manage a successful social media program for their school, focusing on embracing and using the power of social media to engage students, parents, staff and the entire school community.

The programs feature an informative 35-minute overview that takes the participant through the steps to use social media to build your school following, manage messages, and improve your image. It includes a review of the online tools recommended for schools to manage a pro-active social media program. An interactive question-and-answer session follows the presentation.

All participants will receive a complimentary e-book, the Social Media Guide for Schools, published by SchoolNow. In addition, all attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion.

The Academy joins the SchoolNow blog, an education blog committed to sharing the latest trends in news in web communications with the K-12 and college communities, as part of SchoolNow’s own educational commitment to serving educators through ongoing professional development.

“There is this thirst for knowledge among many educators that transcends their websites, per se," said Steve Williams, marketing VP and co-founder of SchoolNow. "We're focused on educating customers in many areas that will help them with many aspects of their communications, and the webinar format is another way to bring these communities together."

“Web communications is a fast-moving target, and educators need all the help they can get to stay current with topics, trends and best practices. That’s what the Academy Webinar Series is all about,” he said.

“Whether you’re in IT, a webmaster, a communications director, we want you to continue to rely on SchoolNow and now our Academy as good forums to both learn and participate in some very important conversations about school communications," said Williams.

SchoolNow conducted its first webinar in May of this year as part of an educational collaboration with SchoolReach, an emergency notification system provider. Additional topics slated for upcoming SchoolNow Academy webinars include Google Apps for Educators, and How to Plan Your School Website.
